Thanks for all of the responses. I am addicted to this site now. There are so many doing what I want to do. I can't wait to get out there! So far I plan on staying at Fishermans Memorial and Carr Point in RI and Forth Cliff in MA this spring and summer. Maybe an outing on Cape Cod too.

Do you know if there is a website for American Legion campgrounds? I've looked and done searches using various methods and haven't been able to find anything that lists them.

I believe you have to call the post where you want to go and see if they have camping. I have camped at various VFW American legion posts and I heard about them from other members. The thing they had in commen was they were in small towns and were glad a member came by and supported them.I always gave a donation
and eat there or bought some beers.

Appreciate it. I didn't know if AL had some kind of directory website.

OOPS, I should have checked all 50 states! 13 out of 14 military campgrounds in VIRGINIA are open to DoD civilians. One is even open to the public. Not sure about the other 49 states as I haven't checked.
