Does any out there still do this while camping?? I would like to give it a try, but since there are only two of us, can it be done in a small dutch oven and are there available recipes for this???

It's the cookware we use. There are two of us. I just use amounts appropriate for two. We have a large and small fry pan with covers and several sizes of dutch ovens. Get the sizes that work for you. We use them on the campfire and in the kitchen. Most cooking will be moist and meals done in about 20 to 30 minutes.

I have two Dutch ovens and enjoy cooking outside with them. Many places sell Dutch oven cookbooks...Cabella's, Bass Pro, Bookstores. Cabella's & Bass Pro have a CD showing you how to use, season and use your cast iron cookware.....

We love to cook in our dutch oven. It is great to have dinner done in one pot or to stack them and have dinner and dessert

I think there has been a resurgence in DO cooking. I got the bug for it a couple of years ago. If you are interested check out this link:Dutch Oven. My posting has a few links to information on the subject if you are interested.

Look in yard sales and flea markets. Many people don't realize what they have. They see a rusty old pan( which can easily be cleaned and seasoned!)

The best tasting food I feel is made using cast iron. We have a dutch oven and a number of cast pans. We cook just about everything in them while camping. we sometimes bring them in from the RV to use in the stick house. One of the most important things to remember is to never use soap when cleaning cast iron cookware.

We have a dutch oven, but it is a mid sized and anodized aluminum to cut down on storage space needed and weight. We always make campfire pizza in it every trip and use it for one pan breakfast cooking when tenting (hey . . . when camping in our fifth wheel, we sleep in).
