From my educated guess, the desert is alive and filled to near capacity with RVers. There are more RVs and of course more people here this year than I can remember in years past. All the rumors of vendors not coming is a complete fallacy. There are vendors stretched out in areas there have never had vendors before.
Wind blew yesterday right on schedule for the opening of the Big Tent but today the weather is really great again.

We're going next weekend with a bunch of the neighbors. We are making it an "annual" just for the fun of camping together. None of us care much for what goes on in town. It's a darn fun/free camping trip! Craig

For the uneducated and uninformed, namely ME, can someone link me to some pictures and personal experience or blog spot information on Quartzite? My bride and I have decided to venture south of the 49th in the fallof 2012 as wintering in Osoyoos is not working out as we had hoped. We plan on travelling around a bit in AZ and thought that this might be a good spot to stop and hang around for a bit.

As always, Thanks and Cheers!

I think I've read there's about 70k RVs collect around Quartzite for the winter. It's a crazy sight to see from several miles away - every spot of desert is white from all the RVs. They are EVERYWHERE! People take tanks to get water to refill their RVs and a septic truck comes around to pump out the gray and black waste. The town turns into a huge flea market and vendors set up tents along the sidewalks. Some dealers have layouts to show their RVs and there is a HUGE tent, filled with RV accessary vendors - like the vendor section at a big city RV show. Some dealers have free breakfast. I think this weekend is the big one as far as shows and events. There are 2 exits on I-10 for Quartzite (one east and one west) and I think they are about 1 mile apart. Pretty much, the whole town is between those 2 exits and everything is within 2-3 block from I-10, both north and south sides. The place turns back into a sleepy little desert town when winter is over. Craig
