Just curious-- how often do you Monaco owners make these high speed emergency lane changes you like to talk about?? In the 30 or so years of rving I don't think I have ever made one. I guess it is a good selling point on a test drive to get your mind off of the stiff ride.

We had a few issues with the handling of our 33' Freightliner chassis until we took it in to http://www.hendersonslineup.com/ in Grants Pass OR. We may go back for rear antisway bars.

Even at it's "worst" it was much better than our 30' gasser

My coach which is equipped with a Neway Freightliner come with a big sway bar on it. I guess there is a big difference between the Neway and the regular Freightliner chassis like the one you had. My coach does not sway or wallow like some discribe the Freightliner chassis. And another thing here is that most people talking about the difference between chassis don't have any mechanical knowledge as to what really are the advantages of some chassis versus others. Some will say, WELL! I got the semi monoque chassis? OK! What makes that chassis that much better then a Spartan or Freightliner chassis. Now I can see where placing the air bags on the extreme outside giving the coach a stiffer ride and no leaning what so ever does make a difference if you want to be making hard swerves. But if you stop and think about it also, it could work against you because it is best when you have a sudden gust of wind that a coach have some give to the resistance instead of being rigid. If there is no give then the wheels are going up and leaving the road to where you have a coach on its side. I am a retired engineer and there are many factors that go into the designing of the different chassis.

chastho... no need for defensive, snarky comments. Bad attitude buddy? Take a chill pill.

There's no stiff riding with the 2011 43DFT HR Endeavor... this coach rides so smooth, sweet, and comfy, and no floppy tilts and leans when turning corners. We find this 10-bag chassis offers the perfect blend of comfort, smoothness, and great handling.

As for "high speed emergency" maneuvers... I don't do those and don't plan to. But if I ever needed to, it's great to know this 43' coach can handle it! The current RR10 ride is magnificent!

Today's current higher end coaches all offer good chassis. As for the older, smaller, lower end coaches... I can't say.

You can take 2 identical coaches and have a different ride and handling. Depends on how they are set up air bag pressure, tire pressure, kind of tires etc. There are lots of posts about having air bag pressure adjusted and coach leveled resulting in better ride and handling. What ever you buy will be the best! You just have to try them for yourself until you find "the one". Take a long test drive on a couple of different types of road surfaces. Too often test drives are a short drive on a good road. I have an RR8R and quite happy with it. I have driven a couple of Freightliners and thought them ok as well. Good luck in your search.

Not making defensive or snarky comments, since some of you like to make the comment about the emergency lane change I am just curious about how often you do it. If it never happens then why even mention it.

Boy topics like these almost aren't worth responding to anymore with everyone getting their hackles up.

In response to the question about emergency manuevers I have had to twice due to people driving with their heads in their asses and I was glad to have the rig respond/handle the way it did. I am not saying that the other manufacturered chassis would have resulted in an accident but I was happy to be driving the Roadmaster. If you feel more comfortable with one manufacturer over another then by all means it is what you are more comfortable with. How boring would the world be if there were only once RV for everyone.

I am a mechanic by trade and have worked on the majority of the chassis out there and there are good and bad in all of them. As far as parts go, they all use heavy truck components which are readily availbable and really not an issue no matter what manufacturer built the chassis.

Like I mentioned in my first post, the only chassis design that I was looking at were semi-monocoque so that pretty much ruled out the majority of chassis manufacturers out there. I drove most of the ones that were in the similar size and style that we were looking at but more just for comparisons sake.

Mike.

Many of us don't buy a motorhome to be "a toy".

This thread has sure de-generated to a base level.
