Looking for a cheap way to boost cell phone. Would like to find one that just plugs in to power (115vor 12 volt) and repeats, as not to have wire to phone. Thanks, Paul

Got one for about 160, made by wilson. It works pretty good no wire and can handle a couple of phones at once, as for data transfer it is so so.

I am very pleased with it and recommend it highly.

I checked the specifications on the 801202 - don't see any mention of in including a router...

If you phone fits into it & you have a earpiece for it, the $80.00 Wilson Sleek works well. If you want a system that retransmits the amp signal to a larger area, the Vehicle Booster Kit is what I use for my trailer. You do have to keep the outside & inside antennas away from each other & the amplified signal from the inside antenna only covers about a 7' - 10' area around it, and it is not inexpensive, but it works...

There are other solutions from companies such as Maximum Signal.

your confused
the wilson amplifier is just that an Amplifier to increase incoming and out going cellular signals to and from the phone or perhaps a MiFi

it does NOT connect to the PC

it does NOT replace your phone or air card

it does NOT replace "cellular data service"

the "wifi ranger" or "cradle point router"
are used to share a connection with your PC but use your air card/ cell modem to connect to the cell tower

the wilson amplifier is NOT a wifi router

Options, always have options, and the journey goes much smoother

Q1 - Do we still need the $50/mo service if I bought the Wilson unit? (we don't have it now due to cost)
Q2 - is there any other alternative to that expensive Verison service?
Q3 - How does it (the Wilson) connect to the laptop?

Thanx for your reply!

I looked again. Router is not mentioned specifically, but the inside antenna functions as a router allowing multiple devices, like yourself and your passengers.

I use it with my iPhone for both cell and data.
