Yesterday, truck drove/ran fine. Took DW to dinner in Johnson City,TN. Came out afterwards and tried to start the truck, a 2011 2500 Chev Crew Duramax. Lights all worked fine, no start whatsoever as in engine turning over. Shift lever was totally inopt as it would move, no indication other than "D" whereupon it started once. Unfortunately couldn't go forward as it would have upset the diners inside when they got run over. Called Good Sam (my road service and explained the situation as we were 40 miles from home. Was told that only the first 25 towing was free over that was $6.00 per mile. I said I'd never heard of such a thing and after speaking quite lengthly with a "Supervisor" (Right) was then told that a waiver would be granted this time. Well we got the truck home on the back of a rollback. Now, we have to figure just what went wrong so I can do what's necessary myself if it happens again. Any ideas? TIA PS: Will be changing Good Sam to another. That's what I paid them for for 18 years. JMHO Just the truck if you will as I'm finished with Good Sam for sure.

Possibly the NSBU switch ( neutral ,start, backup) on the transmission .Usually they will start but not go into gear . Have you tried to start in when in neutral instead of park . There have been problems with them in the past , water contamination .

Many roadside assistance programs ( AAA, Good Sam ) the " standard " policies are only free towing if 25 miles or less from home. You have to pay more for " gold " coverage or whatever your particuliar company calls their upgrade. Some auto company insurance policies also cover roadside assistance you might want to check with yours.

I have the Platinum Road Plan. Thanks for the switch info. Tow driver tried it under the truck, but couldn't find anything. Kinda figured something simple. Too old and too cold last nite. Thanks

File a complaint through the Good Sam monthly magazine. Let them investigate themselves.

not applicable for most here but if you pull a horse trailer there is only one comapany to go with US Rider. If your can't be restarted they will find the closest stabiling for your horses and have the trailer towed to that facillity and they will have your tow rig towed to the nearest repair facillity. They only use tow vehicles that can handle large trucks. Its about 120/year
