It's common practice, it's safe, and it exercises your generator.

I frequently run my Onan Quiet Diesel, and for the same reasons mentioned above.

Run mine whenever we travel. Kids have television, and microwave and I have the rooftop A/C running. I think I now have 700 hours on my generator. No problems

I can see using it to run A/C or maybe other special needs can't understand ALL THE TIME. I make sure mine run a minimum of 2 hours a moth under load, otherwise just when I need it. Pleas explain. ![scratchead [emoticon]](http://www.rv.net/sharedcontent/cfb/images/scratchead.gif)

For the past seven years I have run the generator any time I need 120v while traveling down the road.

I've had my MH for almost a year and have put 200 hours on the generator, about 95% of those hours while driving so I could run the house A/C units. Other than using some extra fuel, I had no issues.

Rookie Rver here! Its done all the time. Several years ago this was my first question too. The only precaution I take is going through tunnels that prohibits.

Summer time, the gen is on cooling everything down before we pull out of the driveway.
Had one trip to a race out west, pulled out Tuesday, back home Monday & gen ran a whole week purring like a kitten, never shut it down the whole trip. Serviced it when back at home, not used one drop of oil.
One thing I will add, a problem propane delivery in san diego we have had with the gen, & I've asked a few times on here & nobody can explain it.
When we hit a bad road bump or several in a row, it will cut the gen off, shut it down. Bad thing, I know it is terrible on that built in regulator to shut it down under load, but what can be done.
Oh, & dont you just love these nice finely built bridges in North Carolina.

I've always ran my generator while the truck was running.
Never really had to many problems doing it.
