Someone asked what others carry in a tool box, and other things to be on top of repairs....and some said fuel. So my question is, for the Motorhome, in case you don't make it to a gas station, or for the generator? Excuse the silly question, but I never thought of carrying fuel...wife asking

I don't have a Class A, but I like having 15 gallons around so I can bypass expensive fuel stops.

I never let my tank get low enough to worry about running out of gas.
Maybe if I was traveling somewhere gas was scarce or a long distance between stations I'd carry some extra but, that would be the only exception.

For me, I do carry extra fuel. It's located in the bottom 1/4 of my fuel tank. Having 75 gallons in my fuel tank, I know I can get at least 800 miles out of a tank.

My wife and I are in our 4th motorhome and first diesel. Every other unit I've owned I've drained the fuel tank to find out what actual EMPTY is against what the gauge reads. I have not yet had the time to do that to our newest unit. I really should get that done. Running out of fuel in a diesel is a VERY bad thing. And that doesn't change if I carry extra fuel in another tank or fuel can.

Not a bad suggestion, but needs to be done in a safe manner. A closed compartment is not a good idea. Needs to have good ventilation.

Once we are at 1/2 tank it's time to stop for a break and for fuel. I never stop overnight without more than 1/2 tank. If fuel prices are up then a 1/2 tank doesn't hurt that much.

Several years ago. Watched a fella fill up 3, 10 gal gas cans. Than store them in his side compartment. Nothing like putting a bomb in your MH.

I almost always gas up at about a half a tank. Of course I am always watching for lowest cost on gas.

I'm like others....I'll top off my tank when I get to 'wherever' for the night. I know that they say that you'll get more fuel for your money, if you fill up in the cooler morning, but I'm not quite as concerned about it....just want to make sure that I'm set for the night.....
Of course, we haven't traveled far enough to really worry anyway, as we have probably got 350 miles or so, on a tank of gas. That's a good day's drive, so not worried.

Closest thing to a 'bomb' in our RV, is the little LP bottles we use with the grill, and I've to them wrapped up in towels, so they aren't bouncing around.

Both my pickup and MH have 100 gallon fuel capacity and neither have trustworthy fuel gauges so when I get 500-600 miles on tank of fuel in the MH or we arrive at a multiday destination (I don't like to park with low fuel - never know whether fuel will be readily available when you are ready to leave), it's time to start looking for fuel. On the pickup, when I switch from the 70 gallon tank to the 30 gallon tank, it's time to look for fuel. Works for me. YMMV
