Yes, I know Lippert's name is often MUD around here... but...we are happy.
After communicating with Lippert for a month, we finally made connections and had our 2006 Alpenlite reinforced at the shackles by their mobile welder. He also added a support beam for each axle. The repair was free!
Yesterday watched as the rig backed up with a very tight turn and those axles don't move a bit... only the tire flexs a bit or is pushed. It took him nearly 4 hrs. We had to remove the bellypan - which had to be cut to be removed. Putting it back on was a challenge. But now we are very familiar with the underside of the rig - and gorilla tape.
He did say that it was strange to have Dexter axles on a Lippert frame...and that some of our issue might be Alpenlite's with the installation of the airbags...and it was the first time he'd seen that combination.
We are just happy to mark that concern off our list for the time being - life is good!

It is good to hear positive reporting. So much of the time all we read or write are problems.

Nice they fixed it for you. Still don't understand why they continue to build frames that are not sufficient or barely sufficient enough for the application. I don't give a rip what my customer wants if it forces me to manufacture garbage that will not hold up and become the scourge of an industry.

I can't decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing that they have their own mobile welder..

Once again someone has a good experience and others still have to bash the same company.

Why would you think that they manufacture garbage? They have extensive quality control procedures and checks. Almost every single frame they manufacture goes through its entire useful life with no failures at all.
Given that its impossible to have *no* failures, you've either got to accept SOME fail rate, or just not bother going into business at all. Those who don't accept a failure rate don't go into business and don't make 33 million extra dollars to distribute to their shareholders last year.
So what is the acceptable failure rate on trailer frames, Arctic Dodge?

Of course, "Thank You Lippert" for welding my frame that I paid a whole bunch of money for, stressed and lost sleep over.
Too bad the job wasn't done right the first time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for 'What?'

And it would be cheaper to do the welding at the factory.

How many airplane crashes are "acceptable"?
How many Northwood frames have failed?
The Lippert reputation is not from myth or hype. Lippert and Weekend Warrior had a class action lawsuit against them. I simple google will list dozens of complaints. My Komfort has a Lippert frame and it is much more flexible than my Arctic Fox frame. I have to be carefull with the stab jacks to not twist the frame so much that my bathroom door will open while being firm enough to be useful. They have had a long history of reported problems. The number of reports over the years is not acceptable IMHO. I've been manufacturing products for over 20 years and I'd be ashamed of myself and my company if we had this level of problems. Zero defects is acheivable. A vendor on mine recieved an award from Boeing last year for ZERO defective parts delivered out of thousands of shipped parts. It can be done.
