Most people go longer on the building incase they get a larger unit. Height is up to you. 13' will clear most RVs but won't give you any room to work on the RV roof while it is inside your building. That might not be an issue for you. I'm looking at a building with a 40' length and a door opening of 14'. That would take care of anything I would ever purchase. Better a foot big then a foot small.

Congratulations on your new RV port Markiemark32! Looks great and isn't it a great feeling to have it protected and at home? the only "sort of" mistake I made when I had mine built was I didn't take into account the angle of the side braces so I can't really "tuck" my truck/camper to one side as I'd like.. I have to have it a few feet, almost centered, when parked. Not a problem, but something for anyone else that plans on building one to think of.

Markiemark32, congrats on the RV carport. It's a big step towards protecting your investment and you can't beat having it parked at home. How did they secure it to the ground? Hopefully you have more than just the basic rebar?
I had mine put up a couple of months back (was storing it under a shed at the in-laws originally). Like you I had space restrictions to work with so I ended up putting up a 12 x 30 w/ 10 foot legs. I bolted a handful of 4x4 buried in the ground to it to help secure it. The tires park on two cement pads that measure 18" x 5' and the rest is covered with limestone.

Thanks all.
The carport is just anchored, with the basic re-bar stakes.
Area semi sheltered (Trees, hill slope, house) hopefully not an issue with wind trying to move it.?!?!?!?
Closer looking at the braces, it is mostly that first one on the fence side, when backing in on the slope, that could get the top/edge of the trailer. Thinking maybe removing that one, and shortening it, giviing more clearance. Once backed in, edge clears those braces.

I added a second AC to the garage of the Toy Hauler. I had parked the trailer a little one side to give me more room for outside storage on the other. I knew it would be close when I pulled it out, real close...

With the angle of the drive I just make it... I think it will be best to center the trailer in the Port now that I have the second AC..

Wow that's close. What leg height did you get? 8 or 9 maybe?

I have been thinking about building one myself. I thought of using a telescope design. The trick is finding steel tube that will fit inside each other. That way it would be close and could unbolt and lift it if I got a taller camper.
What are these kits built like. It is 1 1/2" SQ galvanized (what gauge?) at 24"OC??

I already added 10 feet in length to the original size it is now 18 x 36 with 8 foot legs. At the highest its 11 feet. I would go as tall, wide and long as you can afford...well within reason. If you are planning on a fiver in the future. Also if you have a driveway angle it will affect height... The square structure on mine is 2 1/4". I had a choice of two gauge sizes 14 and 12 gauge. The 14 gauge carries no warrantee the 12 has a 20 year warrantee.
