I would suggest to go bigger, I started out with a 20' TT, then went to a 30' 5er, now have a 34' 5er TH, I had to change the carport with each camper change, it would have been cheaper and easier if I did it one time. The height on my current TH is 13'2".
Good Luck with your choice.

Minimum 13' sidewalls, more is better. Whatever you build will be too small for your next camper as many have & will point out. It's fairly easy to add length later on those covers if you plan for it now.

Hi All.

We have a Real Wood Built, Comp Roof RV Port, with Full Hook-Ups. That matches our House perfectly. Ours is right at 13 feet tall all the way acroos the top of the RV Port. What ever you do, build it right the first time. Don't just think about the RV that you now have. You may want to up-grade latter to some other RV that might be taller than the RV that you now have. So think ahead, and be ready if you ever do change RV's. And as said, a lot depends on your driveways also, is it flat or is it up-hill. Ours is a Black-Top Driveway up hill, and I can barley clear the 13 feet, and our Motorhome is only 11'6" tall. Thats how much of a differance an angle going up hill makes. Once the Motorhomes is inside, on the Cement Floor, I have plenty of clearance to get up on the roof to do what ever I want to do up there. Its nice to also have open rafters, as I can stand up in a lot of the places under the RV Port. Think Twince, Build Once. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

Two options..

1: Use the 10 foot legs

2: Use a leg that can be "extended later" easily.

We are in the process of doing the same thing. Still planning and permit process. We are going for a 14' height, for room to upgrade. We also took into consideration we may be moving and the future owners may have an RV that needs the clearance. A friend of mine just purchased a 5ver with a height of 13'4". You never know what will be down the road.

I have a Versa Tube RV port for my MH. My MH is 12'4" at the highest point (Sat Dome).

I originally purchased it for my 32' TT and later extended it for my 40' MH. I use silver tarps for both ends vs. a full metal door or steel enclosure. I purchased it from Menards, but the site can provide where you can purchase. I would recommend if you buy one to pour a concrete floor, as I just have gravel, and wish I had concrete.

We have always built with the biggest RV allowed on the road in mind. Currently the building plans are for a 36x50x15 with 2 14'h doors. At resale time, the building will not limit the potential buyers.

Go with most height. I can crawl around on my roof, comfortably, while it is under the cover. It is really nice in the summer to not have the hot sun beating on me while working.

My AC is 13'.
Going with a 10' side wall limits the peak height. Doing a 12' side wall and closing in the ends if needed is a better idea for protection against the elements.

Just think that most states have a limit of 13'6" on overpasses off main roads.
I went with the 14" side walls and have a 38'6" big sky and would have liked roll up doors. Now I need to increase the length as 40' is just too short and need walk around room. Your money your unit just try to make the right choice as it cost more to add more to the unit you only needed at first!!!
