I'm still finding dog hair in my TC after several cleanings left over from the previous owner. I would not allow a dog in my TC. Hey, but that's just me.

When I had my shepherd/husky mix, he slept with me in the cab over. Then I got a Class "A" and we also increased out dog population with a shepherd malamute. They both liked the couch, whether traveling or stopped. I had to reupholster that couch twice due to very heavy nails.
We lost the shepherd husky a couple of years ago and now with the downsized T/C, the shepherd malamute still likes the sofa/sleeper at the dining table. He is 16 years old and just can't make the leap up and I would hate for him to get hurt coming down out of the cab over.

I thought that way until I got a dog...now he owns it.

I've always put down an afghan or blanket of the dog's own on the dinette cushions to protect the original cushion fabric from their nails as they get up and down.

My two labs travel with me all the time.(both about 50#) I'd be lost without them to be sure. Most of the time they jump up into the cab-over but occasionally they decide to sleep on the seats. Since they own everything I have they do what ever they desire. Spoiled ..YES..but they do know how to be "good citizens". I suspect that as Scoter ages a bit more she will require some help to get up overhead.

I bought a square hassock at Target, about 14 inches tall, covered in micro-fiber cloth, which I set on the front step by the pass through window, for my beagle to use to get up on the cab over bed. The hassock is about half full of magazines so it hasn't fallen off yet from his use. He also uses it to get down. It makes the up and down, a two step process for him.
I may figure some way to Velcro it to the wall to make it more secure. During the day the hassock rides tucked under the sink area, somewhat out of the way.
