I've been running Torque on my android phones for well over a year. Great product and works well. Love it. On my 2005 CTD I watch fuel rail pressures (wow, that thing is HIGH) as well as a few other things. I hadn't noticed that EGT was available, will be trying it to see if it is readable on my truck tomorrow - would be very valuable info to have me thinks.

I use this adapter from Deal Extreme. I've bought from these guys before and had good service. One item arrive crushed and they just refunded the money after I sent a picture. No need to return. Looks like this thing has gone up, I paid around $30 for it.

Anyway - I do recommend Torque as a cheap way to get a lot of information about your vehicle.....

I've been seriously considering the same app for my Samsung Galaxy x2s. Let me know how it works.

For some reason I think I remember there being a popup when I downloaded the app saying there were glitches with the app on the samsung galaxies. Might want to research before you go out an buy it.

You won't be able to get an EGT reading since the truck didn't come equipped with temp probe in the exhaust manifold from the factory. No data available.....

SeaRayder I'm guessing you downloaded the "Torque Pro" (OBD2 & Car) plugin? It shows a $4.95 price at the Android Market. I have the
Droid Bionic by Motorola looks like a cool app. Even though I have gauges it might be nice to see what the ECM is seeing. For $24.00 bucks total you almost can't go wrong. Maybe I'll pull the trigger on one also.

I have my thermocouple in the exhaust manifold and see temps towing as high as 1500*. Was told by Cummins that where I installed it was not the best place. They claim you want it just in front of the turbo not at the engine.

Anybody know where the ECM is getting it's readings from? It can't be at the turbo there are no sensors there.

Don

The ECM takes all the info it gets and does, for lack of a better term, a bunch of math problems. The map sensor, intake air temp sensor, engine temp sensor, oxygen sensor, throttle position sensor, engine speed, vehicle speed, and others. A true egt temp reading would have to have a sensor in the exhaust manifold. The torque pro might be able to generate a egt number based on data from all the other sensors but I think it would be a very hypothetical reading.

I know you can create custom objects in Torque. I'm going to go scour their forums to see if anyone has found a way to get the value you are talking about...

Ok I got my OBDII Bluetooth device in and it works AWESOME!! Complete monitoring of all tracked vehicle perameters and data logging. There is a slight delay in the data,(.25 second or so) but its really not bad at all. I would HIGHLY recommend this as an addition to your TV!
