They have been painting fiberglass Corvette's since the 1950's.
And now, most of the trim and bumper material on a new car is plastic, rubber or fiberglass. It all gets painted. Plus, consider the fiberglass toppers that are sold for pickups. They too are FG and take paint well.
We painted a chalky fiberglass boat with white auto paint (not clearcoat) and used it for years in saltwater and fresh. It never peeled, faded, or cracked.
If your camper's outside is degreased and sanded, your Bro-In-Law should know what to do to give you a first-class job. Not to worry. You'll be proud when it's done.
Another option is to tape the TC where it needs it and remove what needs to be removed, then take it to MAACA and let them spray it. Take it home snd put her back together, finished.

It is well worth doing ours look brand new, however, this is what the hubby does for a living. Iam guessing it would cost thousands if we had to pay someone, the supplies alone were in the hundreds of dollars. We also did all the work in our indoor riding arena with fans and ventilation!! Like someone else said the prep work was agonizing, lots of taping off things!!
when you figure out how to put pics on i would love to see what you have done. im really excited to get mine going sunday

Start a photo bucket account and up load from there

I was thinking about doing mine in two years, after I get it on a gooseneck trailer and box in the wings. New roof, new roof A/C, new vents and repaint after removing all the windows, then resealing them when I reinstall them. There are a couple of stress cracks near the rear jacks that I also would like to repair permanently.
Mine has FRP sides and I could have the trailer painted the same color as the T/C. Should be a lot cheaper than a brand new camper, seeing as how I am on a fixed income.
