Hello there. Which way to get through Seattle.I'm thinking 405 South and then 167 to either 18 or 512 to get on the south side...Any thoughts. I've landed at the Bellingham RV Park for the night and will leave later in the morning for Portland,McMinnville and Newport....Thanks....Mike

Over the years I have discovered the best route is straight down I5. Do it very early in the morning of between 10 and 2. Be sure to take the HOV.

While I've often done the 167/512 route, on a Saturday and Sunday, I5 is just as good. Though I5 south bound approaching the Ship Canal bridge seems to slow down Saturdays around noon (I'm not sure why).

The direction of the express lanes from North gate to just south of downtown affects directional carrying capacity. Current schedule is:

Saturday & Sunday
Southbound - 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Northbound - 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

I5 on a Saturday morning is likely to be a parking lot from Northgate to downtown.

Straight down I5, but not during rush hour.
On Saturday you should have no problem

Tomorrow (Saturday) you should have no problem taking I-5 all the way south, especially if you get to the Seattle area from Bellingham by 10 o'clock or so.
