The kids enjoyed Bucktail Camping Resort. The PA Grand Canyon is beautiful. Wellsboro is a neat little town also.
We also liked Cool-Lea Campground.. We have been wanting to stay at the Watkings Glen KOA also.

If you want all the comforts of home, stay there.

There is a nice Jellystone in Hudson , NY. The Scroon River runsa along some campsites. It has a nice pool. There are many activities for the kids. Just outside the CG are many hiking trails. You can bring the bikes in town to ride around Scroon Lake.

I second the recommendation for Rollins Pond or Fish Creek (they are co-located and share a common entrance) These parks are arguably the best State campgrounds in the Adirondacks. Both have virtually all of their campsites directly on the water with private access for boating and swiming. Both have hot showers. Neither park has hoook-ups, but water is available every few campsites along the roads, and both have dump stations. Staying at either campground gives you access to all the facilities at the other. Choosing between the two depends on your camping style.

Fish Creek allows power boats and has direct access to the Saranac lakes. There is a playground, basketball, vollyball, and special activities on the premesis.

Rollins Pond pond allows power boats but only up to 25 HP. As a practical matter not many power boats seem to go there so the lake is very quiet and peacful. Canoes, Kayaks, and sailboats predominate. There is access to several other lakes via canoe or kayak so longer paddles to beautiful isolated spots are possible. Boat rentals are available on the premesis.

We go to a camping resort in Lockport, NY. It's called Niagara's Lazy Lakes. It is a wonderful place! Great place for kids and adults alike! We live 4 hours south of there and we make it up there at least once a month if not more.

Not sure if Gettysburg is too far for you or not but Artillery Ridge is where some friends of mine are having their get together this spring. They said its pretty nice there. I haven't been there myself yet. Gettysburg can be a great educational trip for the kids.
