Sometimes when I flush the toilet in our 07 Cameo, a big bubble bursts up from below. I think there's a roof vent that is supposed to release any odors/gas from the holding tank. Anyway I checked it a while back with a hose and thought it was open. Is a blockage there the only probable reason pressure is building up, or could there be another cause?

Thanks,

Dave

Burping toilet generally means the tank is near full. the vent pipe sticks down into the tank a lillte so when the fluid level gets to the bottom of the vent pipe the air will burp back out of the toilet.

What ncrebel8 said. I have the same problem too and that's a sign to fill, dump and flush.

WHATEVER YOU DO...do NOT smoke in the bathroom if your toilet is releasing Methane Gas!

If it's not an issue of being full, you may wan't to check the roof vent. I've found that the assembler will mount the pipe too high off the roof and when they put the rain cap on, it covers the pipe and plugs it off. I've also found that this scenario causes slow drainage while dumping.

Dave, our toilet was doing the exact same thing on our last trip and it ended up bein a partial clog at the drain pipe from the toilet into the tank. Ours would burp a big bubble as you flushed it. I ran a plumbers snake down it from the toilet and it finally opened it up and no more burp. I then flushed the tank a few times. Hope this helps.

That can also be the first sign of a pile issue. Do a really good tank flush including several full bowl flushes. Bomb the pile! I also run 4 minutes of water in with flush system twice, redumping each time. Chris

Chris nailed it. It's an "outhouse" pile. Had the same problem with mine, even after dumping tanks. Make sure you use plenty of water when you flush.

I had the same problem too but mine was solved by lifting up the vent cap a little, I put a new one on and accidently pushed it down so far on the pipe that it blocked off the pipe.
