I live in Florida and I thought maybe the thermal pane windows would be a good option in a new fifth wheel to help keep the unit cool in during the hot florida summers. I am looking at a Cedar Creek 36B4 fifth wheel. Any feedback would be great.

..LOT"S of threads have been posted on the pro's and con's of dual pane windows. I have them and swear by them....mine are almost 6 yrs. old and zero issues with them...I think they help with cooling a 5er quicker in the hot months and believe it helps with heating them up quicker in the cold months...my experience and like a lot of others, I wouldn't own a 5er without them...You'll get a few mixed reviews, but the majority like theirs and would have them again...

You can do a search for either "thermal pane windows" or "dual pane windows"....odds are, you have a "dual pane window" and though there are those who will swear they are of no help at all when it comes to heating or cooling a unit, most, like me, believe differently...they also keep it quieter inside your 5er from outside noises....I vote "yes" for them...hope this helped.

I have them on mine and really believe they help on insulation and also on noise reduction. I had the opportunity to get them when I ordered new, they are pricey if you replace your original windows with them.

If I was planning on LIVING in my unit during hot or cold weather, it would be a plus.

from what I've been told regular camper window glass carry an insulation rating of R-1 .... thermopane/dual pane windows carry a rating of R-2 .... while that is significant it is only one insulation factor which it might pay for folks to consider, that is often overlooked, is the amount of insulation in the slide floor(s) of the camper they are considering .... it often comes as a surprise to folks that there simply isn't any insulation in most RV slide floors .... most have some sort of outer covering to keep out water (for some that is paint), section of ply board, and the carpet ... we have thermopane windows in our camper and like them, we have uninsulated slide floors and really wish we did

I have them and love them for three reasons: they don't fog-up or sweat as much, they keep the cold out, they keep the heat out.

I suspect most that hate them, are not owners of the more current versions. Some of the older versions where, well, not quite so good.

Jim also makes some good points about insulation, the rig has to be well insulated and well sealed (ie no air leaks)

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

We have them and camped in Kansas last summer when it was 113 degrees and camped this winter when it was well below freezing. Wouldn't have a rig without them.

Can't tell you what specific window thermal rating is, but I do know they make a considerable difference ...... Well worth the money - hot or cold or in between... If you only use the unit 3 -4 weeks per year, maybe not - I would, but may not be as important to everyone.
