While I enjoyed the book thoroughly and have always liked Steinbeck's writing, I actually preferred William Least Heat Moon's Blue Highways as a travel inspiration. Both are worth reading and both excellent writers.

I have found that the best "book" I carry is a smart phone. As long as I have a signal, any information that I could possibly need is at my fingertips.

Haven't read "travels with Charley", but I did thoroughly enjoy "Blue Highways". I found it was an excellent read. I will be reading "charley" in the near future.

Cookielady wrote: I was just wondering what RV Books do others carry in their RVs. I ordered the Corp of Engineers book (very hard to get, always sold out). Also, the RV Bible. I have a book on boondocking and of course Next Exit and the latest Woodall's Campground Book.
Any others I might want to add?
None, just my Laptop and Verizon AirCard.

We have our laptop with us and such but I enjoy holding a book and reading it as we travel. I have a Kindle and enjoy it but sometimes a book is better.
