now I know in my heart that our government made the wrong choice in saving that sorry assed excuse of a company.....
maybe if they had actually built a decent product all along, they never would have needed to be bailed out.
sorry for the wakeup call, but some things aren't worth saving, GM was one such thing.
Dodge on the other hand had a first class commercial with Clint.
gm = ZERO class.
Dodge = winner in the commercial bracket at the Super Bowl.
Really? It was a commercial. I dont recall gm or fiat getting upset when ford had their logos on a punching bag at the end of their f-150 commercial. And to say gm makes crap. I guess being the #1 car company for how many years means what? I know toyota held the ranks for 2 years until the earthquake last year and thats the only reason gm is #1 again. But geez IT WAS A COMMERCIAL. Get over yourself. And if the fiat commercial was class then, why did they not film it in Detroit?

I have been a HARDCORE chevy guy for 30 + years. At first I thought it was cute than i was kinda pissed. Chrysler and GM took money from tax payers and Ford did not. I know some forced retirees from GM that were not treated that well and I assume they shafted creditors as well. This commercial was a metaphor for 180 degrees of reality. I have purchased 7 new GMC and Chevy tucks in my lifetime. I had a warranty claim on my last truck that was 1500 miles out of warranty. I asked the dealer to fix it before the warranty was up and they said they would not be paid by GM unless it failed. A month later it failed and they would not fix it. Its a engineering problem they even have a upgraded part to replace the failed design. GM said they would send a voucher for the cost of the repair towards the purchase of a new truck. Geeeeee thanks, So my truck I bought for 52,000 that I have been offered 13,000 for in trade on a new 60,000 truck. Sounds to good to be true.

Was that some of that .001% effective APR money?
We still seem to have the Wrong people running the Fed?
I really did the like the apparent conclusion that only Twinkies and Chevies would survive.
Of course mine Does have a Hemi!

I don't agree with bailing out poor run companys that produce poor products.
I've owned plenty of GM products that I poured my hard earned dollars on....
I know the quality difference.
We have both Ford's and Chevy's at work,
AGAIN, I know the quality difference.

You know why Chevy had to stop using the "Like A Rock" commercials? Because, rocks sink like a turd in a punch bowl, much like GM did in '08.
Chrysler should have been over in the 80's, or does anyone else not remember the taxpayer bailout back then.

There are people that have had good and bad experiences with all 3 of the major truck companies(Chevy, Ford, Dodge). I had a couple of Ford lemons and good experiences with Chevy's so that is what I buy now. I would say for the most part all 3 companies have improved the quality of vehicles that they are making so go with what you like.

I had a bad experience with a GM product that used the Passlock system. GM wouldn't even admit to which part was bad. Saying it occurred in less than 2% of the product. Wonder how many that Really was?
Doesn't matter.
I now own a 2000 Ford E-450 with a V-10 (holding my breath on the 'plug spitting thing' still), and a 1500 2011 Dodge with a Hemi (which will Still pass most anything but a gas station).
As to the 'Bail out'. While I hated to see it happen, we did Need to slow the train somehow.
I've heard manly complain about the method, but NO ONE has come up with a constructive alternative, that I've heard yet anyway. My only suggestion would be to loan the money directly to the 'Small Buis.' rather than give it to the bankers for bonus money. Might should have let some of the banks go south, however.
As to the Fords. I had a Ranger that became mostly a 'money pit' at 128K miles Trans, front end, turn signal switch x3, wiper recall. Motor was still good (heads hadn't cracked Yet).
