After 3 years I think it might be time to replace the group 24 Interstate battery that came with the TT. It hasn't failed yet but before setting out I thought I best not tempt fate.

Now should I look for the same type battery, since this has worked well, or is this the right time to change to something different? I don't boondock, or at least I haven't yet. Mostly state parks or rv sites with FHU.

Standard RV/Marine Deep Cycle or what?? What's up with golf cart batteries? I've heard this is a good idea but not sure why. If so, do you go with two of them?

Also, What brands are best for any battery?

If you plan to camp where there are no hookups, then go with TWO 6 volt batteries. Costco has the GC-2 at a reasonable price.
We spend way more time off the grid.
Sometimes just along a creek in the Ochoco National Forest.
Sometimes in a Forest Service campground adjacent to the prettiest lakes.
Our refrigerator electronic control is sensitive to low voltage and will cut off the propane if the voltage is low. We don't need high priced solar just a big set of batteries.

If you don't dry camp, and always have electric, then there really is no need for 6 volt batts. Just get the same one.

Why get a new one? Unless old one is giving trouble, why not wait? If it ain't broke, DON'T fix it IMHO. I get 7 years or more out of my TT batteries, as I rarely dry camp.

I agree with the last 2 posters, if it is still working, is putting out good voltage, you have checked the water and keep them filled, then keep it until your start seeing a decline in voltage. Use only distilled water in your battery.

If you don't dry camp, don't boondock, don't use the battery... see where I am going with this? A battery should last 5 years at least. Why not wait till it fails?

IF the group 24 Marine/RV starting battery has worked well for you then that's what I'd replace it with. It is probably the BEST battery (price vs performance) for the average RVer who doesn't put much heavy use on their battery and nearly always stays in RV parks or campgrounds with electric hook ups. I certainly agree with others saying "replace it when it fails" but doing so before is just silly. You can buy them ANYWHERE you might be when you need it and it takes seconds to install.

I've always had excellent service from Interstate. I've personally had one last 10 years before it finally gave up the ghost. It's not unusual for them to go 8 years where I work.
