We live in the SF Bay Area. My family of about 26 people all go on a camping trip together. Ages 3-63. We have a 23 foot trailer and a 38 foot motor home. Multiple tents. We want a place preferably with hookups and able to get reservations. We also want a place that is not too hot and dog friendly. any suggestions would be appreciated. Most of my family does not want to drive more than 6 hours one way. Thanks for your help.

Most RV parks with hook ups usually do not allow tents. Will search my resources and maybe come up with some recomendations. Maybe someone else will have a suggestion where they do allow tents.
State and forest service camp site usually only allow 8 people per camp site, and RV parks rates are set and based usually on 2 people per site and add $$$ extra for each additional person. Good Luck

I'm thinking Camp Edison at Shaver Lake. Might be too cold for you, but check it out...very nice camp and close to the lake....it was built by So Cal Edison for their employees but was opened to the public finally...here's a link....Dennis

Lake Cachuma! HERE! 304 miles, 5 hours away from you guys! Tents, RV Spaces with hookups, showers and a beautiful fish packed lake in the beautiful Santa Barbara Mountains. They also rent Yurts, boats, bikes and have a general store.

It's ran by the Santa Barbara County Parks and Recreation Dept.
Our kids took their bikes and rode completely aroung the big lake! Nice place...one of our favorite. But they didn't take reservations last time we were there, supposedly they do now!

Maybe too close, Petaluma KOA is lovely.
Redding and Redbluff have many campgrounds that should fit your needs.
Enjoy.

A couple of suggestions:
Sequoia Ranch RV Park near Three Rivers, CA. (Kaweah, CA.)
Shaver Lake, Camp Edison
Dillion Beach at Lawsons Landing

Look these up on rvparkreviews.com for more info. All 3 are great family spots with lots to do...hiking, fishing, swimming, sightseeing...etc

the KOAs in Santa Cruz county are tent and RV friendly. Both are dog friendly too. The one in North co is cheaper but more remote... there is a store and horse stable. The Santa Cruz Monterey KOA has lots of stuff for kids and a club house and heated pool.

only about 1 hour from the bay area and they usually have openings.

Gualala River Redwood Park in Gualala, CA. We've gone there every 4th of July for the last 4 years with my in-laws, about about 12 of us. We always stay in the river view sites. Sites 42-50 have the best view of the river, IMHO, if you can get them. The campground has water & electric and a dump station. The only drawback is the hook-ups are not necessarily on the proper side of the site. We always stay in 42, and the hook-ups are on the opposite side of the site so you would need an extension cord for your electric hook-up and a very long hose for water (we put 2-25 footers together). It's well worth it! The sites are large, nestled among redwoods, on the river and the campground is large enough to get a nice leisurely bike ride in.

on edit - They don't open until Mother's Day, but you can call or email and make reservations anytime.

Stumbled upon this gem a few years back Gold Country Campground located about 8 miles outside of Jackson. Full hookup and tent sites. We had a family gathering of around 20 people. There's a small waterpark on site as well as a mini golf course. They also have cabins for those who don't want to rv/tent but still want to come.
