tplife-
I don't think the phrase "you're a jackass" can be based on proven science.

Cots are fine if you're a warm weather camper, but dangerous for winter camping. Thousands of people camp comfortably with cots in warm weather without dying.

Ha! How did I not know that? I was an English major after all. I read the Chronicles of Narnia when I was a kid but haven't read much C.S. Lewis since then. Regarding the cot, I did a closer search in the cots section of this site's camping page and found one called the Blantex XK. It looks like Blantex makes a lot of different cots with roll up mattresses. Looks promising.

Can anyone recommend a comfy cot for sleeping in a tent? Our tent is pretty big, so size is not an issue. I am a side-sleeper and 5'10", if that matters.

The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.

(From Wikipedia) "comprises thirty-one letters written by a senior demon named Screwtape to his nephew, Wormwood, a younger and less experienced demon, who is charged with guiding a man toward "Our Father Below" (Devil / Satan) and away from "the Enemy" (God)."

I was a bit of a wild-child in high school and my mom gave me a copy. It's a really good read. Lewis was a brilliant author.
