We are planning a trip to Florida in June. We like state Parks and CORPS parks but we would like to be on the Island or as close as we can get. Suggestions?

There is a campground on the island but you can not take you pets. We have never stayed there for that reason.

There is a State Park, I believe that it is a State Park, in Estero, Fl. It is around 18 miles from Sanibel.
Look on RV Parkreviews.

The nearest SP is Koreshan SP in Estero. It is located at U.S.41 and Corkscrew Rd. It is about 18-20 miles from Sanibel. There are however, many private campgrounds in the FT Myers Beach area which would put you within a few miles of Sanibel.

RVParkReviews.com is the best source for campgrounds. Go to the website and click on Florida. Than scroll down to the city/area you want to stay in. There will be a list of campgrounds that various people have reviewed. If you find something you can click on the website for the campground and get additional info.

In the Jax area try Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park. It is a FHU beach park run by the city.

They also allow birds, but the park is very tight if your rig is of any size.
