AM CONSIDERING PURCHASING A PATRIOT AUX. BRAKING SYSTEM FOR MY TOAD (2006 SATURN VUE). WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE WHO HAS USED OR IS USING THIS SYSTEM. GOOD OR BAD INFO WOULD BE USEFUL IN MY DECISION.

Please turn the caps lock off.
Personally, the only towed vehicle braking system I would ever consider is the ReadyBrute/ReadyBrake system from NSA.
Simple.
Mechanical.
No reported failures.
No reported damage to the towed vehicle brakes.
Relatively inexpensive.
It just simply works.

We switched from a Brake Buddy to a Patriot 2 years ago, and it's been reasonably problem free ever since. One thing to check is the height of your driver's seat that the Patriot pushes against. Our PT Cruiser seat was too high, and raising the adjustable feet to make the Patriot high enough resulted in breaking some of the feet. I just put a plank on the floor and removed all the feet. But I explained this to the Blue Ox rep at an RV rally last fall, and and before the rally was over I had (a) a new Patriot with all feet intact and (b) a replacement for the piece that hits the seat - one that elevated further. I gather than some Jeeps have the same problem. Anyhow, Blue Ox now knows how to correct this.
I'm much happier with the Patriot than I was with the Brake Buddy.

It just simply works. DOES THE (oops - sorry) ReadyBrake include some sort of damper or shock absorber to prevent harmonic pulsing of the toad brake application?

I don't know. You might check the website to get the answer straight from the manufacturer.
I have never heard of any problems from any of the users who frequent these forums.
Those who use them seem to be VERY pleased.

Ditto. I started with the Blue Ox Appollo "box" unit using it for 5 years - a big PITA. Went to Ready Brake last year - what a relief!

I recently purchased a Patriot. Used it twice and have had no problems at all with it. Sets up easy and fast. I decided on an electric motor instead of an air compressor to apply the brakes. I also went with their tow bar and base plate for my 2010 Wrangler.

Thanks for all of the replies. I have looked at the Ready Brake, but no one in my area installs it. I think my decision is made to go with the Patriot system. I am using Blue Ox towbar and baseplate already. Thanks again and happy travels....

Easy install even for the minimally mechanical. The system you are going to get will work as advertised - just bulky and awkward to use from my experience.

I've been using the Blue OX for 2 years without trouble. Over 15,000 miles. I also use a board under the unit to make it line up with seat better. Their customer service is excellent if you have any initial issues.
