I usually hate recommending a 'search' to anyone but ... Several folks reported on the Dempster in 2011 but earlier than this. If you search 'only this forum' for Dempster highway you will get quite a few responses.
Drove the Dempster in July 2011 to Inivik and flew to Tuytoyuktuk. A good part of the Dempster is build on prema frost so the road crews are always at work. This keeps the road in prety good shape. Its a great drive lots to see, mountains, valleys, tundra etc. not a place to go if you are in a hurry. Take you time and enjoy it.
We took the trailer to Tombstone Park & road was great. We drove to Eagle Plain & to the Tombstone Park Boundary was fine. Further north +2C, strong wind, heavy rain, thick fog, soupy road with an extremely rough section of about 50k.
We did hit a terrible day but it was a wet summer and several we spoke to had encountered problems further up.
