We bought our first RV a year ago this March, a 2007 Holiday Rambler 40 ft and immediately searched for insurance. Since we have AARP/Hartford for our Home and Autos, we went with them for the RV. They were also the least expensive (a major factor). The policy was only $600 for a year with good coverage, Got the renewal yesterday, and it had jumped to a whopping $932 for same coverage! We've hsd no claims, NOT ANYTHING. Now we are obviously searching for another company. I feel that they sucked us in with a low premium the first year, with full intentions of jacking it up. HAS ANYONE HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE OR ANY WORDS OF WISDOM?

I suggest you contact Wholesalewarranties.net. I was very pleased with the policies the offered, and I chose the one I liked best.

If you own a DP your insurance will be way higher compared to a gas rig quote.

I recently shopped my RV insurance at renewal and The Hartford/AARP cost for insurance with the same coverages and deductibles, was about 30% below the renewal quote from my current provider. For that amount of savings, it seemed worth the risk and nuisance of having to rebid my policy a year from now if they try to jack up the rate too much.

We have AARP/Hartford. Our rates went up about $12 per month. Still pay much less than other company's quoted a year ago. The Hartford insurance also provides us with Roadside Assistance and Towing.

Have had AARP coverage on autos and RV for several years. Just received the new policy and it didn't increase but a few dollars. Still one of the best rates out there. landman02 did you or anyone that is listed on your policy receive a ticket or have an accident??
this would cause a rate increase.

Ive found that "auto renewal" policies mailed directly from the companies (progressive, allstate, etc) tend to add features or options you might have previously declined. I noticed on my auto policy progressive added UM which doubled the policy cost. My motorcycle policy added this as well. This is where is pays to have a local agent/rep since you have leverage with them versus a 1-800 CSR.
Best thing is to look at the previous and new policy to make sure there is no change in coverage. Insurance companies can be sneaky like that.
