I haven't been on the site for a year or so and I'm not up to speed on the daily chats about trips to Alaska. We are heading up to Homer and Valdez to do some fishing in June and intend to go via Dawson,
Chicken to Tok. Last I heard the road was washed out and a border guy had disappeared. Did anyone travel the top of world route in 2011, I would sure like to avoid the trip from Destruction Bay to Beaver Creek. if anyone can update me on the TOW I would sure apperciate it.

Last summer it was raining the day we drove across the Top. Very muddy but still a fun day. As normal, the Canadian side was much better maintained than the US side.

I read that they found the body of the missing officer. Drowning victim but never heard if they figured how his mishap occurred. http://www.odmp.org/officer/20508-officer-charles-floyd-collins

They reworked much of the bad section from Burwash to the border last summer with a lot of new pavement. Best condition I have ever seen it. Not great, but a big improvement from past conditions. Of course, it won't last long with the permafrost under it.
