You can download any file in PDF format from your PC to the Kindle reader (2nd generation or more recent, don't know about original ones) as it has PDF reader capability as well. Could use wireless transfer but there are fees involved.
So your truck service manual, TC applicance manuals and any other users manuals or installation manuals can be organized on the Kindle (with backup on laptop or PC).
Makes life a lot easier for troubleshooting without having to search for a manual. No more torn, ripped or missing pages.
Now, thats' a great idea.

Anyone on line LOAN Kindle books? I just purchased and read Down John's Road and loaned it to my cousin to read. John Colson purchases a TC and a GMC and drives John Steinbeck's Travels with Charley route over 80 days. He stays in Walmart parking lots, etc. for most of the trip.
I want to find a 'loaner' copy of Travels with Charley. I need to look at the library loan website and see if is available.

I bought the cover with the built in light that is powered by the Kindle. Don't need to fire up the lantern in order to read outside after dark any more.

Have done almost all of my reading on a Kindle for the last six months and love it. Our Library has the Kindle lending library but also there are a lot of good books out there through www.pixelofink.com and www.ereadernewstoday.com that are free or very highly discounted. You do not see Patterson and other top authors there but a lot of new (and not so new) authors getting their work out. If it's free and you don't like it you just delete. The books come through your Amazon account and actually show up as a purchase, you just have to be sure that the price is 0.00 before "buying" as they can revert back to the regular price.

Some Kindle books are loan-able. If a book is eligible to loan you can loan it ONE time for a two week period and that is all. Most of your top authors are not loan-able. To loan you go to your Amazon account and manage your kindle, go to your book inventory and on the right hand side of the screen there is a drop down menu for what you want to do.
