Hey all from missoula mt!
My wife and i just graduated from the VW camper world (actually i still have my 67 westy but sold the syncro westy) to the RV world! We are pretty stoked. Found a great deal on a 2001 dodge cummins 2500 QC long bed with BW turn over ball hitch and exhaust brakes, only 98,000 on the clock. We then proceeded to look for a trailer of sorts. We decided on a 5ver over a TT due to less tow length vs usable space and from what i hear they are safer to tow with. We ended up with a VERY lightly used 07 springdale 242 with rear lounge instead of bunks. 6 sleeper with some neat options. Already had the hitch adapter for my gooseneck hitch and brand new tires, so that was nice. We bought it from the dealer and I embarrassingly think we paid way too much, to the tune of $16k. However, we figured as clean as it is, had the floor plan we liked, and with the great deal we got on the truck, we are comfortable with that price. What do you all think? Be nice
Our reason for leaving the vw world was due to the birth of our first baby, Stella Blue, 12 weeks ago. I did not want to have to deal with roadside breakdowns anymore. Plus we like to spread out a little bit, which is easy to do in Montana. And the wife is dead set on hot showers and toilets! Anyways, i hope we got a decent deal on our investment into lifestyle, just wanted to say Hi and what a great forum here!

Welcome to the forum and welcome to the fiver family. You'll really like the room the fiver has to offer. We went from a pop up, to a Class C, to a TT, to a fiver. Nice progression and we really like it.
Best of luck and have fun!!
BTW, congratulations on your new baby!!

First, welcome to the world of RV'ing and RV Net. What you paid for your rig is your business, if you guys are happy, that is all that matters.
RV'ing is a learning curve, get out there and yank that trailer across the country side and enjoy the ride.
Good luck.

That is it! Had no idea it was on youtube. We really like it, in fact, we are having a RV cocktail party in it tonight with some friends, while it is parked in our driveway. We are trying out all the cooking stuff and see if it works well for us, we are professional chefs. Got the furnace cranking right now, no water tho as it is winterized. But the wine and martinis will flow freely

Hey! What a great idea! And we thought our driveway camping was unique. Do it all the time when we can't get away. We're behind a locked gate so we can run back and forth in our PJs when we need to.

Congrats on the truck and 5'vr......sounds like a great combo. May you have many years of enjoyment and new memories.

One word of caution......do a search on 5'vr frame stress and gooseneck adapters. Not a fan of that set up.
Gooseneck trailers are built stronger for that kind of stress forces.
5th wheel trailers do not have the bracing/gussets to deal with the added forces of a adapter/ball hitch set-up

B&W makes a great companion 5th wheel hitch for that turn over ball...
