We are looking into lights for the patio area outside the coach.I have seen the awning lights with the heightit would be time consuming to hang the lights on weekend trips(most of our trips). Are there any other easier options?

Yard stands with hanging lights
Rope lights along ground under/around rig
Patio/porch lights
Solar lights
Tiki torches
Or my favorite:
NONE cause I like to camp in the dark so I can enjoy the night sky

When I feel the need to "light up the night" I just lay rope lights around my trailer or motorhome, they emit a soft not glaring light and I turn them off at night when I retire.

We use the awning lights (like 6 big colored globes with 25 watt bulb inside, available at CW). Keep the light hangers in the track all the time so only takes 5 min to hang up and plug into a timer then into the coach. Also hang windchime or some other decor on S hooks at either end of awning. Only problem is we travel in thye midwest where it's windy alot so if we don't put the awning out, we use the rope lights on the ground "midwest style" around the patio mat.

No. Keep you from tripping over chairs, etc but not enough to cook by or eat by.
I have (but quit using) the six hanging globes from CW with 60W bulbs and made a dimmer in a 4X junction box so I could turn them up and down depending on the circumstance. I retire those as they too too long to put up and took up too much storage space.
I found a big globe light that is designed to go on top of a pole as a yard light. Made it into a hanging light that I hang off one end of the awning and plugs into said dimmer. I put a 150W bulb in it which lights the places up like daylight when I need it and can be dimmed to Frank Sinatra levels for drinks and talking. Much smaller to store. QUITE happy with it as it goes up and down in a flash, provides enough light and looks good like me.

Here is a link to another thread that relates to your question.

Since then I have gotten the light strip installed and tested, and love it. Don't have any pictures yet, but the light is soft, completely under MY awning, and is plenty to read , eat, and/or cook by.. Jusat right for sitting out and enjoying the outdoors. Several of us have used these instead of rope lights, and most are pleased with the results. I also carry and sometimes use 50' for white rope lights around the patio. Depends on how close neighbors are, and if the light will be disturbing to them.

For more light I see (and have one) 5 gallon (or smaller)plastic paint buckets with a light bulb mounted inside. It can be made water proof and is easy to hang.

Did you hang thr light upsidedown (as to how it would be on a post) if so is it water tight?or able to withstand rain?
