Cloud Dancer wrote: Yeah, we too prefer a little more privacy. We ordered our MH with sliding doors between the bathroom and the bedroom, AND sliding doors between the bathroom area and the kitchen. Additionally, within the bathroom area, the toilet closet has a conventional door, and cabinets, and its proper lavatory and window and Fantastic Fan, and radio. We agree that private business should be conducted in privacy.
x2 - same arrangement in our TT. I like this arrangement and will look for it, or something similar when we buy again. Potty arrangement is VERY important!!!

Jay Pat wrote: In our thunder closet, we have a vent.
The door has a gap at the bottom.
No gap at the top.
Makes for great air exhaust/evacuation, with this setup.
To "hide" the thunder, the operator of the moment, will turn on a/c fan to mask any extra noises that may occur.
Works!!! Happy RVers!!

That is our policy also. Extra thunder get more fans....alot of thunder ac fan and the stereo.....we have not gotten to the stereo point yet....scary!!

Our Class B had doors for the wet bath but it was way too confining. We removed the doors and put up a shower curtain. It's just the two of us in our Class B so we thought what the heck.
The doors were heavy so we travel lighter.
I agree with the poster about the stinky restrooms at NFS campgrounds. When we do use them, however, we carry our own deodorizing spray!

It was explained to me that when you were doing your business with the fan running, you wanted fresh air to be drawn into the bathroom which is why there was a gap. If the bathroom had a window then there usually was not a gap on the door because you had a means of adding fresh air into the room.

When I built our motorhome I didn't even put on a door! The wife and I know each other so it's no big deal.

pasusan wrote: We noticed at the last bunch of RV shows we went to that bathroom doors tend to be less than private. We regularly saw 2 or more inches open at the bottom and top. One MH we saw had a bath and a half. The full bath was in the very back - behind the bedroom. The half bath was right in the living area and had that door with the large openings. Right in the living/seating area.
I can't imagine anyone wanting to use that just a few feet away from everyone.
Our RV does have a midship bathroom, but the door slides and shuts pretty completely.
I hope I haven't bothered anyone's sensibilities, but I figured if we could all get through the bidet thread we can certainly address this.
What do you think... Why the non-privacy?
I understand it is for ventilation and as far as privacy in a TT ... you're kidding "RIGHT"? .
The door on our bathroom had the standard "knob" with the inside twist lock and the first thing I did was replace it with a residential "lever" type system w/o any locking option. I would rather push a nice brushed nickle fancy lever than turn a silly door knob.

Our bath has a window and the 2" gaps on the solid door both at the top and bottom so your belief on a window now usually having the gap is probably false.

We have the gap at the top and bottom of the door. On our model we have a door that opens to the outside. So the bathroom has two doors one that opens into the trailer with the gaps and one that opens to the outside. We have an additional outside door at the back of the trailer.
The first time I stopped along the road in the middle of nowhere (no gas stations, restroooms ect) to let the wife use the facilities I decided I liked it. Just step inside and take care of business then get back into the truck and go.
Out running around the campground, coming in from a canoe trip wet/muddy no problem. Just come thru the bathroom, shower then come on into the trailer without all that mud and sand coming along for the ride.
Need additional ventilation besides turning on the fan just open the outside door. Just kidding no free shows.
