Learn to take GI showers or spend a grand on a new water heater.

Or stay at CG's with showers.

BTW - Most RV's of all types only have 6 gal. heaters.

You quoting Canadian prices Don?
A 10 gal DSI propane/electric water heater is $450 - $550 on this side of the border.
Try here for a couple of examples.
Assuming the OP is capable and there is room in his unit, replacement is NOT a really tough job.

Define "major". You can add a second water heater or replace yours with a larger one. Either choice involves plumbing and electrical work.

A modern RV water heater is designed to deliver more than its stated capacity. They have a very large burner which gives fast recovery. A six gallon water heater with a low flow shower head should give 8 - 9 gallons of hot water.

Are you sure the current water heater is working correctly?

Switch to an instant hot water heater and never run out...it is not cheap and uncontroled use will burn a lot more propane

Got an email this very morning from Camping World offering a portable, continuous "hot water heater"! Little over hundred dollars. Have to use it outside, but hey cheap fix and opportunity to become "one with nature" so to speak!

JayandFay, does your current water heater have a propane burner "and" a 120 volt element? If it does turn on both at the same time, this will make your hot water last longer. If it only has a propane burner a 120 electric heat element can be added, I think the brand name is "Hott Rod".
