I just don't see the problem with swiping my card a second time at the pump. To me it makes more sense than walking back and forth to the fuel desk and waiting in line.

I think most people have more than one credit card. If the pump refuses to allow a 2nd charge, just use a different card. We always have four credit cards, one of which we use solely for fuel as we get a 5% kickback on it. The others only offer a 3% or 1%.
To the OP, I don't think I would judge the whole corporation on one bad example. I bet if you go to another Petro/TA, you would have a different experience.
However, I do feel your frustrations on insufficient room at the gas pumps for a large mh with toad. Even with my dp and when no Flying J or Pilot is available, getting to the diesel pump in the car lanes can be a real challange.

Well, I have officially scratched Petro/TA off my list of stations to get fuel at. After a very very frustrating stop in Rockwall Texas I will never again return to any of their establishments.
I use a mastercard, so most gas stations limit you at the pump at $100, this I am used to, so I go into the store and present my card and MOST stations will just do a preauth, no, not TA, they charged my card $100, and didnt know this till the pump quit right at $100. I went back into the store bewildered, the clerk said they can only pump $100 per transaction. I tried to explain to her I was in an RV, and with the price of fuel $100 would barely fill up a big SUV. She didnt care one bit and treated me like I was trying to pull a fast one on her. I called TA's customer comment line and felt like I was being treated like an inconvenience to them. Well Ill no longer inconvenience them by never returning.
I just dont get truck stop's, with the number of gas RV's out on the road why do they not put RV pumps out like the truck diesel stations with wise bays and ease in out access. Im tired of having to scout out a station to see if there is a pump I can get into and pull through without having to wait for cars parked in the front of the store to leave.
Sigh, just my little gas station rant.
We totally agree with you about Petro/TA. Stopped at one in Wyoming last summer. Couldn't not find the diesel pump with the small nozzle (our truck still has a small fill tube). Finally used a big truck pump and my hubby had to hold it the hold time to keep it from slipping out and spewing diesel all over the ground and the side of the truck. We have a gas rewards card, but you have to swipe at the pump to get the discount. Guess what, couldn't swipe at the pump, so had to take it inside, so lost our discount. I asked her why they don't put a sign up indicating where there diesel pick-up pump is located. She said, well it's right there, the first pump (a vehicle was already in there when we got there). I said how would I know that unless I got out and walked around, checking all the pumps to see how big the nozzle is and we can't exactly pull a 37' 5th wheel all around the station looking for the correct pump. It is such a huge hassle trying to get fuel anymore, I'm about ready to stay home.
The $75.00 limit is silly with fuel prices the way they are today. It is the station (merchant) who is setting the limit. I have a merchants account, I have never had any limit on the amount I could accept per card or transaction.
