While at the campground today an RV repair business came through offering the FREE installation of circuit boards on your Atwood hot water tank. They removed the old circuit board and installed the new one. They left the old board with me. No charge for labor and no charge for the circuit board. Before allowing them to do the work I called Atwood tech support and they explained it is part of a Beta test. They have a new supplier for circuit boards used in their hot water tanks and they wanted to field test the boards. If the new board goes bad they will supply a new one free or I could always install the old one which worked just fine.

Who said, "nothing is free?"

It seems to me they should have been explaining the test program and supplying literature as a part of the installation offer, rather than leaving it up to you to sort it out with Atwood T/S.

That sounds like a very strange way to do Beta testing. Did the guy that replaced the board give you the phone number…probably one of his friend’s phone number. Probably a device that will suck all the info from your credit card inside your RV.

That letter addresses furnaces, the OP mentions this was on their water heater... It also references park models, and according to their profile, the OP owns a MH.

My vote is with the magic credit card reader thingy.

Thanks for the comments. The fellas doing the work could have done a better job explaining the Atwood Beta program. They did have a form from Atwood and it contained a legitimate Atwood contact and telephone number.

Yep...I think you guys are right. When I looked at my online banking this morning I had a zero balance and all funds had been transferred to an off shore bank account. I think that new circuit board somehow corrupted my Wi-Fi signal and stole my identity. Maybe if I reverse the wiring on the circuit board my online banking will be corrected.

Or, it's a tracking device. Big Brother IS watching.

The RV repair fellas had circuit boards for all years of the Atwood hot water tanks. Even if your tank was a 2012. In my case the tank is 14 years old.

Also, they had Beta circuit boards for the Atwood furnance. Same deal, free labor, free board, keep your old board and life time warranty from Atwood on the new board.
