Well I finally followed suit of everyone else and upgraded my CRT televisions in the coach. Our sound started acting up on the front one towards the end of the season last year so I decided to change out the front one initially then my wife and I decided to go ahead and change out the rear as well to eliminate the need for a analog to digital converter box altogether.
The 24" CRT television had a good picture but like everyone else I decided to install a 32" in its place. I looked around until I found one that was exactly the same width as the cabinet so nothing will protrude from the sides.
The picture quality is fantastic. My wife just got home from work as I was cleaning up and putting tools away. She was amazed at the picture quality and how it turned out. I still have to make a trip to a local cabinet shop and pick up a piece of walnut for the top to make a filler panel. I want to wait until the rear television is completed as I am sure to need one for that as well.
Here is what I started with. Nothing fancy just the old 24" CRT television.

Here is the trim ring and the television removed. I tidied up the wiring a little while I had the TV out.

Here is the one we went with, a Magnavox 32" LED/LCD.

It only weighs 18.2 pounds. The .2 is probably the box.

I started with some 3/4"x.065" wall square tube.

Tubing mounted to the television for measuring.

Welding up the framework.

One of my welds.

Here are the side pieces cut and ready to weld to the framework. These will allow the television to slide downward into position and retain the TV securely in place.

Another one of my welds.

Framework completed and mounted to the TV.

Here are the side mounting tabs mounted in position in the cabinet. These are 1" wide by .187" thick 1020 flat steel that is drilled and tapped to mount to the wood cabinet. Each side has two 3/4" pieces of square tube welded to them which in turn has two 3/8" bolts welded to the square tube with just the heads protruding inside the cabinet to catch the notches in the framework that mounts to the TV. This spaces the framework back inside the cabinet the proper depth so the backside of the television will come in contact with the face of the wood cabinet.

Here are two pictures of the test fit prior to final assembly.

Completed installation.

All that is needed is to put the trim pieces on top and bottom. I will now measure the rear cabinet and replace the rear television within the next few evenings.
Thanks for looking.
Mike.
Here are the final pictures after installing the trim pieces. I found a local woodworking guy who had some small pieces of walnut and he routered the correct radius on the edges. I sanded and clear coated the pieces over the last couple of nights and installed them tonight. All in all I think it turned out quite well.
Thanks again for everyones comments.
Mike.

That is a well thought out and executed installation plan. Top drawer all the way.
Excellent pics too. Would love to see it when all the trim is completed too! Thanks for sharing Mike!

Thanks for everyone's comments. As soon as I get the rear TV installed and the trim installed I will add some more pictures.
Overall I am pretty pleased with the way it turned out.
