Thx for the comments re my generator problem rquest. I spent today talking to shops to repair it or replace it. Repairs could be ~1200$ if I could find someone to do the work. One experianced fellow told me I had too much rust/salt (the generator I hope he was referring to)from the coast and winter use and he would not do the work as we would both be unhappy( he was alittle more graphic than that and had comments re the 3600 generac's reliability). And he was a generac licensed shop. So I'm now looking at replacement with a Onam. I can get the work done at a couple of places including Northwood but its expensive. Has anyone had this conversion done and are you happy with the result? How do find access to service the Onam?

Hi
I understand your issue----we tried several times on our 'US road trip' to get our generac working but finished up bringing to England not working------------------Just by chance(well I was phoning around to get it repared) I spoke to a guy who used to work on development at generac at the time mine was developed, he reckons he knows everything about the 'older' models ????!!!!-----------------well he said they are sooo complicated that he is the only person in UK who MAY be able to fix it !!!!--------------------------------------------------I am looking for a boat enthusiast who wants a unique anchor !!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally found a dealer who would check it out and good news as it was a problem in the start /stop switch on the motor. Back to a nice cozy bed with the elec. blanket. It was a usefull experiance though as I found out the genarac 3600 is no longer available and installing a Onam leaves you with service issues because of the limited space and required side acces. Hopefully the generac will be good for many more years!!

Nigel & Pamala----Spain I just swapped my Impact 36 out with another impact 36 I picked up cheap so I can work on mine with some time and not cut into my camper usage. I accidently broke the 15A circuit breaker and had a hard time finding one (Generac listed for $64.00 but i found the identical dual pole breaker from Blue Sky marine for $37. If you want to work on your generator, I have both the owners manual and the service manual in PDF form. You should have a knowledge of electrical circuits as this is a DC generaator and the DC current is changed to AC by a inverter which is located by Lance under the floor of the Dinette. DC current produced is 187 volts and can Kill. I did not find the service manual hard to follow....but then I had time to kill

I have had my generac impac 36P since Thanks giving 2002... 931 nights on the road... many more day trips... we use it for 10 to 12 hours at a time... It has been faithful... the only problem, a starter motor. I'd find another befor I'd have any of the light weights out there.
I'm glad that you got it fixed.
I wash our Generac... hose it down... and take a leaf blower to dry it... works for me and the generator seems to like it.

I don't know for certain unless I experienced what you went thru, but, if I had a built in generator that went belly up and could not be fixed, I would remove it and get a portable honda in there.
