I have an open floor plan because to get a garage big enough for our four full size sport quads, I would have had to get a giant trailer. Would love a garage, but could not afford to buy the big trailer and TV that come with it.

Another thing to think about is that we don't always take the toys with us. We like NASCAR racing and usually don't take the sidebysides or motorcycles with us when we're race camping. Used to have a garage 5er and just could not get over hauling an empty garage around. 12' of a 35'camper was relatively useless.

No TXS. When we aren't using the garage for hauling, it becomes another dining area with a bug screen. Nothing like eating breakfast overlooking a lake just after the sun rises. If we have company over, we could sleep four adults easily back there on the beds that lower down.

The advantage we like with the garage is that is a great "mud" room after riding. We've come in from riding out in the rain...great place to take off the gearand then hang it all up to dry out. Keeps the living area clean and dry. Great place to clean off wet dogs too LOL.

We don't have a garage and we can do that bug-free breakfast-over-the-lake thing. Lunch and dinner too. Do you really need two dining areas?

LIke others, I would need 14ft of garage. Can't go that big $$$. A 29-31 fits just right for us.

We have the open floor-plan and love it. I do see valid reasons for both in this thread. Layout is something that we thought real hard about before we bought, and glad we did.

I haul a Ranger with a lift and mud tires, 2 kids quads, and a dog kennel. Garage is not even close to an option. A camping buddy hauls 2 sportsmans in his 12 foot garage model setting side by side. If he were to have aftermarket tires, he could not fit them side by side. Personally I like the non garage models. As far as the post above about raining and pulling into your camper well the easiest solution is to buy a nice big tarp. Put the tarp down and roll on it. Clean up is as easy as pulling the tarp out.

Same here my 34 ft. has over 16 foot of load space and load space is what toy haulers are.

I just traded in a 5th wheel toy hauler. We used it since 2007 to travel to offroad motorcycle races. I loved having the separate garage. Keeps all the fumes from the gas and bikes separate from the living area. Also, on long trips we didn't have to unload to use the inside of the trailer.

If the cargo requirements require an open floor plan than regarless of how you feel about the garage you cant have one. So to a large extent the decision mostly makes itself. If you dont "need" the open floor plan I am not sure why you would want it but I am sure there are those that prefer that plan that dont need it. But given how many of these open floor options you see on the newer trailers I dont think they are a real big seller, which means resale on the open floor plan models might be more weak. We would never not have one without a garage. The interiors on the garaged models are more plush. You dont have to unload to use the trailer. When people are staying over they basically have their own room. Not having to heat the back if no one is using it, no small factor for us. Lastly its a great place to store stuff beyond just the SXS.
