RRUGG wrote: Three or so years ago gas was near $4 and diesel was about $5. We had a diesel truck at the time and we went travelling anyway. We never paid $5 but we did pay over $4.90. We'll keep going. If we don't spend it on gas, the kids will get it eventually. They can and are earning their own money.
And THEN came the recessioon, Brought on in large part by the high fuel prices. Think it won't happen again? Let it go to well over 4 bucks and watch.

Dog Trainer wrote: Many of us are answering as if the only affect the price increase will have, is on our Mh travels. What about the increase in the cost of food, electricity and the daily routine of working and driving. Where does the farmer, trucker, electric co. and the many others that rise in fuel costs. None of this is as simple as just putting a few more dollars into the RV tank. isn't anyone else running out of $500.00's
Ther you go. right answer. We all can absorb a couple hundred for the vacation. But it's the every day higher costs that will cause the problem.

Dave's Wife wrote: I think we talked about this, this time last year! My opinion is yes we are on a limited income but I'll be damned if I am going to stop traveling! We did a 5000+ trip last spring/summer, we had a blast and yes it was a little more expensive than we have anticipated but we are back saving our duckies and going again this year. We did have to curtail slightly due to minor medical issue but we WILL go again and go out for a couple months if the weather permits! (Rain in the NW)
In an election year the incumbent will do his level best to put his best foot forward to be re-elected( this is NOT an endorsement) but gas prices being high will NOT put him in the best light. So I bet they drop!

Not this time, not with this guy. His record proves it. Neither for, or against. Just fact.

We are lucky here in Montana, I think I payed 2.99 a gal couple days ago. I only put maybe 5000 miles a year on my truck and the wife puts around 10000 miles a year on the burb. I drive a Dodge Stratus to work which gets an average of 32mpg so I have more fuel money for the truck. I also have alot of camping within 100 miles of where I live and never used a full tank camping so that is helpful because we try to go every weekend in the summer, in winter my fuel costs are pretty low, I have not even started my truck in weeks.

past-MIdirector wrote: Just look what happens every time we get to $4 a gallon. We start to slide deeper into a recession. The interstate commercial transportation can not operate at a profit at the over $4 a gallon. When most peoples fuel cost as much per month as there mortgage payment any large increase cause people to cut other items out. Then you have the fuel efficient vehicles which is you think about it they are a joke. My dad had a 61 Rambler that got over 25 MPG and my 64 V8 Mustang got 20 MPG. The automakers have made very little attempt to increase MPG.
Then you have the electric vehicles that need to be charged so where does the electric come from the local power company that charges you an out rages amount every month for the power you use. The money goes to the power company instead of the oil company who will increase your rates more since you are using more electric to charge your vehicle that can only go another 100 miles before you have to charge it again.
We don't need a new pipeline but refineries in ND, SD, and MT. Why pipe the oil to the Gulf were the first major storm every year shuts down production. In the north you create thousands of construction jobs and thousands of permanent job at refineries.
X2 Amen
The pipe line will only serve as a way to get the Canadian sand oil and Bakken oil (chale formation) to port for export.

I paid a lot of money for my rig. If it costs an extra $500-1,000 for fuel for the season..such is life. If that was going to prevent me from traveling I guess I should just get rid of it and take up knitting. Nobody said this was going to be cheap.

There are a few that are up against the wall financially speaking and do need to sell. Not all RV owners are debt free with a positive cash flow today. Health/financial reasons pop up all the time that can change plans.

It also means prices for Rv's will be down again.
Prices for smaller, higher MPG, units will be up.
$4.00 I wish ,where I live close to Parry Sound gas $1.30.00 per litre or 1 U.S. gal @3.8 L per gal. $4.94
1 Imperial (Canadian gal.) @4.5ls. per. gal. $5.85
Can't wait for the summer price hike. still going camping though.
