I see the side radiators on both sides. When those came out they had 2 motors so they could run on one and when needed for extra power the second would cut in. I used to take a Greyhound into Detroit for high school back in those days and they were in the terminal all the time.

That is Awesome. The SC was / is my favorite bus. It's from a Era of traveling to see the American beauty. Back in the 70's the Drum Corps I was in Used SC's My spot was first row birds nest. Had a '64 Vista Cruiser must have been in the Blood.

Thanks gbopp... interesting read. Also brings back memories of our family's 1969 Olds Vista Cruiser!

I have the parts to retrofit a 10 speed into that puppy, trans, shifter, add a air clutch and you will be in high cotton WITH the 871. Of course the Detroit needs a turbo. Hope the split rims have been changed out.

Just yesterday I was looking at pictures of old Flxibles. Some of the later ones had the Scenic Cruiser type raised section. I was thinking if I owned one of those, I would raise the dinette up higher, so the back was even with the bottom of the window, for a better view while traveling. Looks like yours has some nice cabinetry and a pretty good layout. Of course you have gobs of basement storage. It will also make nice living quarters after your divorce .

This is bus #149, built in 1954. Was converted in about 1998 and sold a couple of times since then. For a while it was in Florida with a church, but worked it's way to Colorado a few years ago. There is no engine or transmission currently. I bought it for $1800 but I have a line on a 6v92 and ten speed transmission that I think will work. Right now the bus and I are about 1000 miles apart so I can't really update with current pictures. Will keep this thread advised as I go.

Slick looking setup, should turn some heads out on the highway. Congratulations!

Wow... such a cool, vintage bus. No doubt a mega project, but with enough time, energy, and money... you will wind up with something really cool. Must say, with no engine or tranny in it, you certainly picked an ambitious project. How will you get it home?

Thanks for sharing that... brings back memories of early times in my life. I'm looking forward to seeing more pics of it.

That is going to be one great project bus. Did you drive it home? What did the wife say, are you still alive with all appendages in place?
