I bought a used rv the sani-con is not working. It has the permanent mount. I searched the net and here on how to take the macerator apart, nothing. People talk about cleaning the impeller, will I need a gasket kit , how is it done. I am dumping the normal way no problem but I see the neighbor use his and I just wish it worked , will come in handy when I get home.

Are you sure there is power to it? Mine is a portable unit but looking around on their site yours should either twist off the hoses or you need to undo a clamp or two. The blades are right in front and exposed once you get it out of the hoses. Not sure on rebuild kits, most guys just use needle nose pliers to get the hair and stuff off the shaft, but repair parts should be easy to get as most of the pumps are the same manufacture.
Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people I had to kill because they pissed me off.

I'd love to find a Sani-Con pump internal parts schematic with disassembly and re-assembly instructions.

What the heck has no one taken one apart. Thanks Old Biscuit but all those links I have seen, and they tell me nothing about taking it apart. Yes it has power, Packer Backer is looking for the same thing, some simple instuctions. I guess I will call Thetford, they don't list a rebuild kit on web and no cleaning instuctions.

If it is a Jabsco pump, there are three small but long screws that are removed. Pull the casing apart and clean the impeller. Add some lube inside and reassemble..long hair allowed to drain into the grey tank from the shower is your worst enemy. Buy a shower screen and clean out after every shower..oh! and a rebuild kit will set you back about 50 bucks.....Dennis

The other thing I'd try is check the ground and make sure the black wire is grounded properly. Then trace the red wire back to the battery source. If the installation was done correctly, there should be a fuse just before the battery connection. Sometimes that fuse burns out. I placed my fuse in the battery compartment.
If the macerator motor hasn't burned out, you should at least get some motor noise.
I have the other type, bayonet fitting. I like mine and bought from this guy. He was very helpful on the phone

Thanks Dennis.
I've been cleaning mine with long needle nose pliars and it has never given me an issue after 3+ seasons. We also have a screen on the shower drain that I clean every day.
Is there anything in the kit that I would need to re-assemble it or does the kit only have rebuild items, i.e. new blades, seals etc... ?

Ok I took it apart. 4 screws it came out of the permanent mount box , 3 more screws on end of pump got to the metal chopper , it had very little hair on it. Behind the metal chopper under another plate is a rubber impeller it was all broken off. I have a Shurflo pump on mine. So now find impeller and a gasket rv dealer first then a marine store , it says marine pump on it.
