Small, liquid objects, such as tear drops, or bubbles blown by a child, tend to form spheres due to surface tension.

I 'm not sure what you are basing that on, but it is a fact that the universe is expanding apart. The speed of expansion can be measured and when the expansion is 'wound backwards', it is found that about 13.7 billion years ago, everything was together at one point. This is not some theory, this is a provable fact.
However, it is not known for certain that it actually went 'BANG' when it went off, so I will give you that!

The same old question: 'If a universe explodes and there's no one to hear it does it make a noise?'

Actually.... that's true. (But for different reasons)

I think by definition that this a theory and not a proven fact. It is simply circumstantial evidence of what many believe happened.

Actually it goes a bit deeper than that. Right now it is accepted by most as the theory that fits the facts.

Don't forget that the solar-centric solar system is also just a theory, it's not like you can go out and see it for yourself. But it is a theory that has become accepted as fact, because it has an immense amount of "circumstantial evidence" to back it up and no other theory makes sense using known empirical data.

This is partially true in that exactly what happened at the Big Bang is just theory. Whether the entire universe of matter, energy, space & time was compressed down to a tiny one dimensional point can only be theorised. Where this point came from and how long it was there is also just theory as is the mechanism for the great expansion.
What is clear though is that all the matter & energy of the universe was very close together 13 billion years ago. Current physics states that when there is so much matter together it will collapse in on itself due to the gravitational forces. It appears that beyond this concentration was NOTHING, not even space! When the Big Bang happened it did not simply 'blow out' all the matter into empty space, but it also blew out space itself! as I said what made this happen is unknown. Spooky!

So where does space end?

What is out there holding up the universe/milky way/solar system?

Does space end?

If there is no end to space how does science explain that?
