I am looking for a Blue Ox tow bar. There are a lot of used ones out there. What do you have to look for when buying used or is a person better off just spending the money for new? Thanks again for all the replys.

I would look for sloppy fit, which would indicate worn out parts. Also make sure everything operates smoothly and freely.... With minimal care, towbars last a long time, so buying used should be no problem.

If its a Blue OX, you can send an older unit back to the factory and they will rebuild it. A friend of mine just had his checked and verified.
There is a fee for it.

I just talked with the Blue Ox representative at the FMCA Rally in Brooksville, FL and they suggested the next rally we plan to attend, sign up the first day (early) and Blue Ox will come by your site and inspect and do any needed work for a fee of $25.00. If it is determined that the tow bar is not safe, they will allow a certain amount (I think he said $150, but not sure) on a new tow bar. I bought used, it looked very good and I am pleased with the set-up.
