I'd contact the ranger (preferable the one who already overlooked their disgression previously) and let them handle it. I love our forest FAR too much to see some A hole ruin it for the rest by either flaunting the rules or burning it down. Brochures are nice but can't address local situations that may require overriding rules in the brochure.

Skip I think you have misinterpreted the name of the park. In "Curry Hammock" a tree is a rarity. It's right along side a beach in the Florida Keys. Of the 4 state parks in the Keys it has less tress than all of them and is the only one that does not allow fires. The eco crazies have now invaded the Florida park Service.

Yeah I was wondering, what's to burn down? Bahia Honda has one CG that has a lot of trees so maybe I could understand a restriction there. But almost all Florida State Parks are covered with them and I don't think I've ever heard of a campfire getting out of control and burning the park down.

I find it hard to believe you cannot have a fire at Curry Hammock. It has the least amount of foliage and trees of any state park I've been to. I am currently at Hillsborough River where there are plenty of trees and foliage and we are having a fire in the fire ring provided. I can say more but I don't want to start a fire storm with the OP.

I think his objection is more to the smoke than the fire.

I would contact the ranger. Circumventing the rules just shows a lack of respect to others in my opinion.

By the fact that as soon as authorities are gone they go back to their activities shows that they are discourteous jerks, again in my opinion.

Add inconsiderate jerks to the discourteous. I

Another rule they do not care about is quiet time ....11pm to 7am. It is now midnight. These people are so loud they can be heard at the opposite side of the campground having their discussions.

I believe there are 4 or 6 of them (and they are at least middle age..not kids by the way).

I am sure the two small trailers opposite (with small children) are having difficulty sleeping.

Christmas is okay as long as you don't burn the tree.

I was originally asking if anyone here would complain about the campsmokefire where it was not allowed and people were simply flaunting the rules of a beautiful campground.
fyi we love to have a campfire where it is allowed.

update:
12:20am
We are closing windows and turning up a.c. instead....try to sleep through it all.
