1999 Ford 450 Superduty Chassis: the in-dash console between the two seats in the cab.
One side has a cup holder the other a deep hole and I was hoping there's an insert of some sort I could get to convert it to a more usable feature. Or perhaps just replace the whole thing with a more usable cubby.
Any suggestions for sources?

Go to a junk yard and pick up a cup holder insert out of a van. Seems easier than replacing the whole thing!

As I recall there have been similar posts in the past - guy bought suitable replacement on Ebay. Try the search feature or Google.

My brother owns a motor home on a 1998 E350. We were able to snap on THIS Ford OEM 2009-2012 cup holder on his 1998 engine shroud, so all cup holders from way back then til now are interchangable. The nice thing about the latest cup holder design for the 2009-2012 models, there are numerous useful top side bins and not one, but two lower bins and yet accomodates two cups nicely. They are sold on ebay fairly cheap.
Here is the latest design being sold by many different ebay sellers. Prices vary a lot. If you were close by me, I would offer you my extra one at a reasonable price.

I picked up one of the later model 2009-2011 consoles pictured above off Ebay for $45 shipped. Took me a total of 2 minutes to replace the old with the new.

Thanks guys. I'll keep a lookout. I'd love to have one with a glove compartment since the cab doesn't have one. Gotta keep the registration and insurance there according to state law.
W4MBG great job on the wooden one!
