I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice from their experience with similar setup.

I am looking at buying the following.

2012 EL Ford Expedition Heavy Tow package (Wife, 3 little girls and me)

and a TT

Keystone Passport 2910BHWE
Specifications
Shipping Weight 5516
Carrying Capacity 1684
Hitch 640
Length 32' 10

The weights all seems to be fine. The thing that I'm not sure about is the length of the trailer and the effects on the TV?

Thank you!!!

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone has different requirements for their trailer and I think it's an individual decision. When we bought the toyhauler I determined how much garage space we needed for two ATV and then looked for the shortest trailer with that space and had a full bedroom. No way did we want one of those pull down bunks. I don't want to drag around more trailer than what we needed. I figured the more room we had that we really didn't need would be an excuse to haul more "stuff" we didn't really need. So far, that theory worked for us. Happy shopping..

What are the towing and payload specs on the Expedition?? Also what's the wheelbase length? Sounds like payload might be your only down fall With 5 passengers, tongue weight of trailer, and whatever else you throw in the back of SUV you might be over your limit?? Remember that the 640lb tongue rating is a dry weight rating. You should figure the tongue weight to be closer to 1000lbs when the trailer is fully loaded.. I personally learned this the hard way after purchasing a new F150 Ecoboost intending on getting a small fifth wheel.. Good luck, Kevin

You'll be fine.I may have a bit longer wheel base but trailer length/weight we are similar. Don't over load the trailer, set the hitch properly, don't be a +65mph guy and enjoy.

I don't know how this was derived but this may help as a rule of thumb.
Scroll down to "How Long". According to this my TT is 8' too long for my TV and yes, I can tell.

I have been towing a 33 foot Wildwood with an Armada. The wheelbase of the Armada is 110". I use an anti-sway hitch. Never had an issue and have been all over the US. As with any trailer, windy days require a bit more dilligence and less speed.

If I use the formula on the previous response, I would need a 162" wheelbase. That is longer than the Titan crew cab.

The longer the wheel base on the tv the better. The longer the trailer the better chance of haveing a sway problem. We used to tow a 31 foot TT and had some sway problems when we had a short bed extended cab TV. sway control ( dual cam ) helped but for me I would not want to tow a TT over 30 foot again. We now have a 5th wheel 35 footer and it tows like a dream, no problems at all and my knukles dont get white. Good luck and safe travels
