Looking at installing a small flat screen television in the tc but need to know which one to buy at a reasonable price. I live in a very humid and wet climate so that is a big concern, do not want to spend money on something that will burn up in a short amount of time.Yes, I try keeping the elements out of the tc but still a concern. I would also like to get one that has a dvd player along with it that is built-in. I will be hanging it on a cabinet with a swing out so I need to keep regards to weight obviously. I will re-inforce the cabinet to support the unit as needed so thats not a problem. any suggestions?

p.s. needs to have a standard cable hook-up for antenna/cable

We bought this 12 volt TV. Voltage is a conderation. This one includes a 120/12v transformer so you can run it on either.
It includes a DVD player. We are very happy with it as it has a good quality picture and has withstood 10,000 miles of travel. We leave it in the swing arm mount.

I saw one once that had a removable power adapter on the back so it could be run from 120 or 12 volt directly.

I also like units that the plug in cords are not straight into the back, but rather on the sides or bottoms.

Also look to see how the buttons work on the TV... the remote will always be on the table when you are in bed. They should be easily accessible and not on the wrong side to where you would like to use them.

Then do a consumers review on the make and model to see how it's rated. Some are loved, others are hated.

then get it.

I agree to buy from a local store as suggested , simply for ease to return it if need be. Finding one that is 12 v. might be a problem. I know that Audiovox tvs were both 12 v. and 110 v .
http://www.my12voltstore.com/Audiovox_19........olt_TV_with_DVD_Player_p/fpe1909dvdc.htm
If need be, you could always operate a tv off a
psw inverter . I'm not 100% sure but it seems to me that the inverter will use a little more battery power opposed to going direct 12 v.
Also, im not 100% sure which method will give longer longevity.
Personally, i have been using straight 12 v. models for 30 yrs. with no problems.
I dont think they make special tvs for humid conditions. Humid conditions combined with dusty conditions might be more a problem, like on a heavily traveled dirt road.
People that live on boats do not have any issues with humidity effecting LCD tvs or any other LCD screens ,radar radios, calculators, computers etc . that i'm aware of.
LCD tvs do not use liquid , they use microchips that twist open to allow light to pass through . It might be best to allow electronic equipment to warm up to room tempature before you turn on anything LCD that might have become very cold during storage periods, but i don't think that deep freeze conditions will be a problem for you where you live.
If you are still concerned about it, simply remove it from the tc when storing it for longer periods of time, but i don't think you'll need to do that. These tvs are stored in worse places and conditions than your tc before you purchase it . If it survived that journey, then it will be probably be fine in your tc .

If you can't find something at a store then on-line is the next place:

One BIG thing to consider...SHOCK. My understanding is that the TV's made for RV'ing are designed to withstand shock better that regularly built TV's. Just a thought.

I'm glad I ask questions on here. It never even crossed my mind that there would be a 12 volt tv/dvd combo out there. That is exactly what I am looking for. I am planning on spending some quality down time in the tc this year and need something to keep me occupied and watch the news, can't miss the news. Thanks everyone

This is what I bought for our camper. Haven't used it yet, but seemed to have a good rating.
