2013 will likely be my trade year. I'm anxious to see what the new Liberty replacement will be like and if it will continue to have a proper 4-wd transfer case system.

I believe all of this is why the restoration business is really picking up. You can restore for considerably less than buying new in most cases.

I picked up a used 2011 Crew Cab GMC Canyon about 6 months ago. I needed a small truck, wanted four doors and something that I could tow.
Is the truck perfect? No, but it fits my needs, got it at a great price and it is a super simple tow car using a Blue Ox baseplate with the Ready brake tow system.

I dont neeed or want a crew cab even....just the..??...SuperCab model ( I think its called) for that extra space behind the front seats. Good for dogs and such.

The Supercab, which is officially the "extended cab" in Chevy terms does have a decent amount of room for dogs and extra storage, so I looked at those hard, but there are four of us in the family (plus two dogs) so the crew cab was our only option.
I also added a bed cover called the backflip so we can tow with a closed or open bed.
So far we are pleased with it as our second tow vehicle (other is a honda CRV)

Looking at moving into a pick-up to tow instead of the CR-V. Looked at GM, Toyota and Nissan. Like the Nissan Frontier until further investigation. You need drive shaft disconnects and they are nearly a 1000 lbls heavier than GM Canyon's and Colorado's. I'm looking at used, new is to pricy for a second vehicle/toad. Have decided on the small GM, just looking for the right unit.
Any comments about the noisy shift in the transfer case when placing in neutral, so far have found a number of them, is this the norm.

Yes the xfer case makes a horrific "bong" sound when re-engaging. We have a CR-V now and used to have a GMC Canyon crew cab 4x4. We were not very happy with it. the A/C never worked, which I found was a common problem with the 2005 version. I ended up lemon-lawed the truck. Resale value of the CR-V is much better as well.
I hope you have better luck than me.

Does anyone pull fuses on the colorado when towing?
My 04 owners manual says to pull the RDO and Cluster fuses, but I see newer models don't mention fuses.
