I think that's the very issue, there are too few lighter small pick-ups around for many of us who really have no longer any need for a full size truck. I would like something that weighs under 5,000-lbs and can fit in underground parking lots that my Dodge Ram cannot do everywhere (at least not in downtown Montreal).

Comparing the 1500 Silverado to the Colorado is like comparing apples to oranges.

There are too few small trucks offered today for towing behind a MH. For this reason it makes them high in their asking price. When I was searching for a small truck I could tow behind the MH (without modifications). The Colorado was the best choice for me. The others I looked at I would need to modify and was not willing to do that. There was only one Colorado within 75 miles of my home. The next one was 400 miles and the next was 600 miles. On all of these the dealers were not too giving on their prices, but did work with me better than I expected. I have only had it for 10 months. I work a 35 day on/off schedule and the truck is parked when I am gone and only used when we tow behind the MH. But so far we are well pleased with its performance. This is the first GM product I have owned in 30 years. I am a Ford man so my main ride is a Ford diesel- F250 4x4.

I drove the Colorado when I was shopping for a medium size truck to tow. Choose what I have now, not as tow friendly, but for my everyday driver much nicer than my test ride in the Colorado. The new one's may ride a lot nicer, I test drove during the GM going broke days.

I agree with you; I wasn't comparing them.

Packer Backer. That truck does exist but it needs a Driveshaft disconnect. We towed a 2005 Tacoma 4 dr.4x4 for 5 years. One of the best vehicles I have owned. 4300 lbs. with me onboard. For anyone that wants to buy a Colorado I suggest they take one for test drive and then try one of the other compact trucks( Nissan or Toyota). One is a powerful, economical well built comfortable vehicle. The other is more like a Trebant!

My old S-10 pickup weighed 3300 ls with a full tank of gas...and could haul 1500 lbs in the back. 1500 is a lot of 2 x 4's and sheets of plywood.

My Ford Ranger that I had previous to the s-10 could haul 1700 lbs in the bed and weighed less than the S-20 because it was a 4 banger 4 speed tranny.

Thats the bottom line is there are only a few to chose from...period.

I needed 10 2 x 4's and 2 sheets of plywood first week of 2012. Had to wait till a buddy got free with his pickup to go and get the,. Kinda rough to stick those inside a Jeep!!....

And I only drive ( other than on vacations) about 5500 miles a year!

Sully, put the sombrero on,sit back and have a cool one,you know as well as I do that there are some people that come to this forum that know every thing that ever went on with a MH,car, truck or whatever, like comparing a 600K Tiffin to a 1.2 mil IH45, bottom line BIL and SIL have a Colorado and tow it all over the country,it is a good truck a little hard for short legged people to get in and out of,wife and I tow Saturn Vue, and I am looking to get a new truck, the 2013 Colorado looks to be a good truck.
P.S. valve stem filters still working.

I know what you mean. And after checking into them...I find that Jeep Liberty's ( such as I have) wont b made after 2013...and Ford Rangers wont be sold in USA even now in 2012.

Sad state of affaits
