My DH and I would like an RV park fairly conveinent to Chicago. Our daughter is to have a new baby in May and it would be nice to be able to visit more often. We would like a place we could stay May thru August or perhaps longer.
It would be great if it was close to "town". Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

The Indiana Dunes State Park is at hwy 49 and is by Lake Michigan. From there it is a train ride that goes to Chicago on the old South Shore Line. There is a stop at Dunesview and it goes to downtown Chicago. There are a couple ofo stops on South side Chicago before downtown. An electric train that really flies. I was going 85 mpg on the turnpike and got passsed by the train alongside of me. The toll road is also there with an entrance/exit or I-94 free to other parts. If you are free the first fll week of May come up to Holland for Tulip Time. We have 6,000,000 tulips in town, parades on 3 days and activi9ty and entertainment all week. Check out TulipTime on line.

www.kampacrossfromthedunes.com Kamp Across From the Dunes maybe the closest Michigan Campground for you. They are across from Warren Dunes State Park and show long term camping.
I have never stayed here so maybe someone can give some 1st person knowledge.

I mentioned Indiana Dunes because it is closer to Chicago. If you want something a little closer to Chicago we have stayed at the casino in Joliet. That is also close to the toll road so you can get someplace for a rather high price easily. The closest you will get to Lake Michigan there is when you turn on the water faucet.

Here is a Jelly Stone Park in Portage, IN.
There are alot long term sites for members but they do have open spaces for visistors. We stayed there last year when I worked near Chicago. It is located between the I-80/90 and I-94 split.
